Cranberry Maple Oatmeal with Pears


  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 4 3/4cups water
  • 1 1/2cups steel-cut oats
  • 1/3cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/3cup golden raisins
  • 1/3cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3cup chopped dried pears
  • 1teaspoon ground cinnamon or Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2teaspoon salt
  • Milk (optional)
  • Directions

    1. Lightly coat the inside of a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In prepared slow cooker combine the water, oats, syrup, raisins, cranberries, pears, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
    2. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 6 to 7 hours. If desired, serve with milk.
